Mechanical Compression Therapy

Your Proven Alternative to Anticoagulant Drugs for Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) Prevention

Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clot that forms in a vein. Blood clots commonly form in the deep veins of the calf or thigh following major surgery such as joint replacement, arthroscopic surgery, or prolonged inactivity if not treated prophylactically. If left untreated, these clots can cause disability or become life threatening if they become mobile (pulmonary embolism) and travel throughout the body. DVT treatment, via our pumps, are intended to decrease the risk of the formation of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) by aiding blood flow back to the heart via lower extremity limb compression.

Risk Factors for DVT
  • Surgery, such as orthopedic e.g. hip, knee, or shoulder replacement
  • Arthroscopic surgery
  • Age
  • Family History
  • Previous History of DVT
  • Immobilization
  • Pelvis/Leg Fractures
  • Previous Malignancy
  • Many Others

The National Blood Clot Alliance can provide more extensive information regarding blood clot factors including risk, signs and symptoms, prevention, treatment and overall awareness.
